State of the State day statement by Marty Beil Executive Director of the Wisconsin State Employees Union, AFSCME Council 24

“This governor has made no secret of his desire to undercut the earnings of state workers. But he’s been in office for nearly a month and his administration hasn’t made a single effort to contact us, the biggest single representative of state employees.

"The situation would be brighter today if he hadn't scuttled a contract with more than $100 million in savings before even taking office.

"We are willing and able to meet with his administration any time, any place, about any issue. Instead, all we hear from him are press releases and speeches. Like the rest of Wisconsin, we are more than ready to see him shift from constant campaign mode and start engaging in the hard realities actually governing."
