WisPolitics Election Blog: Group criticizes Walker over veterans' issues

Retired Lt. Col. Mike Gourlie detailed his efforts to get the governor and the Dept. of Veterans Affairs to either veto or oppose the repeal of Wisconsin's Equal Pay Act. Gouile contends the new law severely limits the ability of veterans to address employment discrimination.

WisPolitics.com: WisPolitics: Barrett challenges Walker on jobs, John Doe as guv dismisses 'desperate' attacks

Walker insisted he has been a person of integrity since his days as an Eagle Scout and has had a strict policy against using taxpayer resources for political work.

Why does a person create a policy when laws already exist to prohibit the activity? Does Walker's policy allow for "selective" deviation from the laws? It would seem that it does because of his need to create a "policy". Also, his need to create a "CRIMINAL DEFENSE" fund demonstrates deviation from existing laws. He is the ONLY GOVERNOR in the country that feels the need to create a "CRIMINAL DEFENSE" fund. Now this is Scott Walker's display of "integrity"...

"We Are Wisconsin" Needs ALL OF OUR HELP!

It is CRUNCH TIME and while this weekend is a time to reflect on the loss of our loved ones and the sacrifices of our military members, we still have a huge fight occurring in our great State of Wisconsin. We need your time. We cannot compete with the tens of millions of out-of-state dollars Scott Walker has been receiving to fight off the people's RECALL OF WALKER, but we can compete with time and energy to encourage voters to VOTE WALKER OUT on JUNE 5. Please follow the below link and see where and when you can help out. Thank you!

"We Are Wisconsin" Needs ALL OF OUR HELP!

Walker: Opponents using John Doe as political ploy

The lies of Scott Walker continue. He claims he asked the District Attorney's office to start this "John Doe" investigation. Scott Walker says he always conducts himself with the highest integrity. If that is true, then why is the investigation called "John Doe", why does he refuse to turn over emails that would possibly bring clarity to this investigation and why does he establish a "Criminal Defense" fund and then solicit contributions?

Two weeks until the Wisconsin recall elections, and it's the first real test of Citizens United. Can boots on the ground overcome a the big money being spent on advertising? With 13 days left before the recall election in Wisconsin, here's the latest from the campaign as compiled by John Nichols, Washington Correspondent of The Nation and author of Uprising: How Wisconsin Renewed the Politics of Protest, from Madison to Wall Street:

Walker recall just and necessary - JSOnline

The Journal Sentinel Editorial Board has wrongly concluded that Gov. Scott Walker should not be recalled because recall elections should be, in the board's opinion, limited to "criminal wrongdoing." Though Act 10, says the board, was an "overreach of political power," Wisconsin's state employees (not the wealthy nor our corporate tax-avoiders) have been living too high on the hog for too long and something had to be done. Besides, if we recall this governor, what's to prevent the recalling of the new one? What the board dismisses is Wisconsin's Progressive tradition.

Windfall! Rich will get richer from new tax credit

… Slipped into Gov. Scott Walker's 2011-2013 budget at the last moment, the domestic production tax credit will cost the state $360 million in revenue over the next four years and some $130 million each year thereafter, according to the non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau. Critics warn the impact could be even greater, a key point in a state still struggling with budget shortfalls.

In a few short weeks, the recall election against Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will occur. Walker is facing recall because of the unparalleled attacks he led against Wisconsin’s workers and their collective bargaining rights. …. Documentarian Amie Williams was there from the beginning and created a feature length film about the experiences of six regular people who joined the protests called “We Are Wisconsin.” The video also prominently features Rachel Friedman who is a Wisconsin social worker and AFSCME Local 2436 member.

Internal Democratic polling shows dead heat in Wisconsin recall - The Washington Post

Gov. Scott Walker (R) is not safe in next month’s recall election, Wisconsin Democrats say. Walker has been pulling ahead of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D) in polls on the June 5 recall election sparked by the governor’s collective bargaining reforms. But internal polling from We Are Wisconsin, a labor-backed coalition supporting the recall, finds a dead heat. …. In a survey of 472 recall voters conducted by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research from May 19 to 21, Walker leads Barrett 50 to 47 — within the poll’s four-point margin of error. Barrett leads with independents, 50 percent to 44 percent.

June 5th

There are 14 days left until we have a new governor.  Fourteen days until we restore Wisconsin ideals and the Wisconsin idea back to the seat of our government.  Fourteen days until sanity and common sense returns to Wisconsin.

These last two weeks are absolutely critical to the outcome of the Walker recall.  This fight is no one else’s fight but yours.  You walked and demonstrated and slept in the Capitol.  You spent countless hours circulating petitions.  Now is the time to make that pay off, to seal the deal, to make all that energy, emotion and direct activity a reality.

Workers and voters across the state are engaged.  Thousands of volunteers are phoning and canvassing their coworkers and neighbors.  We have volunteers, fellow AFSCME brothers and sisters, from Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Iowa on the ground, and more are coming.  The whole country is focused on Wisconsin. We need each of you to once again step up and engage in the final push.  We have worked too hard and come too far to let this recall fizzle.

There are 35 ‘We are Wisconsin’ offices throughout the State, as well as Democratic Party offices that are coordinating the last two weeks of getting out the vote. You can go to www.wearewisconsin.org and toggle “volunteers” to find out where the nearest office and opportunity is.  Even if there isn’t an office in your area, you can still help out from your home.  This is an epic battle and our victory hangs on all of you, your families, relatives and friends involvement.  There is no tomorrow!

Early Voting
The early voting process started on 5/21/2012.  Any voter can vote early by going to their town, village or city clerk during normal office hours and requesting an early ballot.  Identification might be requested.  Click here to find your municipal clerk’s info (by county): http://gab.wi.gov/clerks/directory.  This opportunity expires on 6/1/2012.  It is a good idea to secure your vote early.

Fortunately Scott Walker has just handed us just such a wedge on a sliver platter in his appointment of Dr. James Kroll as the State's "deer Czar". Wisconsin Democracy Campaign - Special Interests Pig Out On The Taxpayers' Tab

Last year Wisconsin residents were told repeatedly that the state was broke and that extreme measures were needed to right the ship of state and balance the books. Wisconsinites were lectured about the need for "shared sacrifice" and warned of painful cuts to come. While most belts were being tightened a few notches, wealthy campaign donors who gave the governor and legislators nearly $24 million in campaign contributions were treated to a smorgasbord of perks and handouts.

Union ads to come soon in recall race, labor leader says - JSOnline

Union-backed TV ads will soon be on the air in an effort to help Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett defeat Gov. Scott Walker, a top union official said Friday. "I believe we're talking serious money," he said, adding that it would not be as much as Walker and his allies are spending.

ALEC’s next target: state AGs who go after companies | MinnPost

…. At the meeting, ALEC’s Civil Justice Task Force considered a proposal entitled the ALEC Attorney General Authority Act. The boilerplate is pretty impenetrable -- one more reason lawmakers don’t write these themselves -- but the summary attached for members’ advance consideration lays out the gist pretty neatly: “Just as a private attorney cannot bring a suit on behalf of a client without the client agreeing and authorizing such action, and then only within the guidelines allowed by the client, so it should be with the attorney general. Rather than an attorney general deciding on his or her own what authority the office may have to bring a lawsuit, the authority should be defined by the state as reflected by the specific decisions of the legislature via statute.

The Debate Over the American Community Survey - NYTimes.com

THE American Community Survey may be the most important government function you’ve never heard of, and it’s in trouble. …. It tells Americans how poor we are, how rich we are, who is suffering, who is thriving, where people work, what kind of training people need to get jobs, what languages people speak, who uses food stamps, who has access to health care, and so on. … But last week, the Republican-led House voted to eliminate the survey altogether, on the grounds that the government should not be butting its nose into Americans’ homes. …. It is the largest (and only) data set of its kind and is used across the federal government in formulas that determine how much funding states and communities get for things like education and public health.

Scott Walker, Doesn't Wisconsin Deserve the Truth Before the Election?

Tom Barrett's campaign is calling out Scott Walker regarding the ongoing "John Doe" investigation. The investigation has begun to make the Governor so nervous that he has established a "Criminal Defense" fund. Why would any Governor do that unless they believe that at some point they are going to need to answer to criminal charges against them.
