A little civility, please - JSOnline

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel seems to think it is rude that Wisconsinites dorwn out Governor Scott Walker when he tries to deliver a speech, such as his opening "crap", excuse us, we mean "speech".

It seems the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has forgotten that Scott Walker has cut the very heart our of public sector workers and continues now to surgically remove hope from the lower income class of our society as well as our Seniors.

Scott Walker should not only be shouted down whenever he appears in the public, but as his conservative mentor, Grover Norquist says about government, maybe we need to "drown Walker.

Unions’ lobbying expenses skyrocket | WisconsinWatch.org

The article unfortunately does not point to the fact that a very radical Governor, complete with a very radical legislature creates continuous legislative activity that required hours in legislative offices trying to prevail to a more level mind, but was not achieved because of the legislative attitude from the Republican Majority, "My Way or the Highway".

Labor Unions were doing just what their members expect of them, FIGHT when UNDER ATTACK!

Wisconsin Ag Connection - Top Seller at State Fair's Livestock Auction Brings $27,500

Most important in this news article is the hard work that this young fair goer put into raising a prize steer and receiving a large bid from Coca Cola Company.

What is somewhat funny though is that Governor Scott Walker tried working the crowd to gin up enthuisiasm from the crowd in hopes of raising the bid, but wound up needing help from Former Governor Tommy Thompson who suddenly showed up and worked the crowd like he had when he was Governor.

Hopefully Walker paid attention to how Tommy Thompson did it.

Capitol security costs now exceed $8 million - JSOnline

A great deal of money wasted because of the Administration's over-reaction and fabricated fear. This was money spent to just "shut out" the public from the pathetic actions of the Republican controlled legislature.

Remember, the Administration feared the people of Wisconsin, but they say the law enforcement presence was to preserve life and property. The Administration recently had a knife weilding manager attack a female visitor to the state capitol and they still apparently have allowed this state manager to keep his job. We are almost thinking that with the way Walker's Administration handles business, this state manager might be able to "back-bill" the DOA for his security, oh excuse us, he did identify himself as a capitol police officer so he could "back-bill" his "law enforcement" services. Walker's Administration is so ridiculous on so many levels.

Walker's incompetence as Governor and disregard for the people of Wisconsin is what is wasting money. NOT THE PEOPLE of Wisconsin.

Waukesha County clerk denies delaying voting results - JSOnline

Well of course she denies it. Truth IS NOT in her repertoire. From our best recollection this now makes the "third" major election that Waukesha County, led by Kathy Nickolaus, has seemed to struggle in "doing it right".

Come on citizens of Waukesha County... Is this kind of competence you accept from your county officials? We think not. We think you need to recall your county clerk or at the very least vote her out at the next election. Put another republican county clerk in office, we accept that, but just put a much more competent county clerk into office. That is all Wisconsin voters are asking or wishing for. This is just getting to be very old when our state has a major election happening.

Sandy Pasch Concedes to Alberta Darling

Democratic Candidate Sandy Pasch conceded the 8th Senate District race to Albert Darling amidst allegations by the DPW of vote tampering from Waukesha County. This now means that as a result of the Recall Elections on Tuesday, the Republicans have 17 seats to the Democrats 16. The Democrats picked up two Republican seats. On August 16, two of the remaining recall elections will take place in the senate districts of 12 (Dem Sen. Holperin) and 22 (Dem Sen. Wirch).

Update in Senate District 8

SEPAC has just learned that Waukesha County is reporting that IT WILL NOT report its election results for at least one more hour.

If you recall, Waukesha County waited until the late on election during the Wisconsin Supreme Court race to report its vote tally, but even after reporting Joanne Kloppenburg remained with a slight lead over Justice David Prosser. Two days later, Waukesha County came before the media and reported that they found 14,000 votes that they had failed to report in its final vote tally.

Jess King Projected WINNER Over Randy Hopper

It has just been reported that Jess King is the Projected WINNER over Randy Hopper with 97% of all precincts reporting, King leads 51% to 49%.

Score: Republicans 3 / Democrats 2 with one race to be called. That is the 8th Senate District and Sandy Pasch continues to lead over Alberta Darling 52% to 48% with 67% of all precincts reporting.

As it stands now, the Wisconsin Senate is 17 Republicans and 16 Democrats.

Some bad news though, the controversial Waukesha County Clerk that failed to initially report 14,000 votes in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race and they have yet to report ANY votes so far.

@wisaflcio: AP calls the win for working family candidate Jennifer Shilling in Senate District 32. Union-busting Senator Dan Kapanke is recalled!

Luther Olsen Declared WINNER in Senate District 14

The AP has declared Luther Olsen WINNER in the 14th senate district.

Sandy Pasch continues to lead in senate district 8 over Alberta Darling. However, there are some tough urban precincts for Pasch to overcome. This will be a long night for this race.

Jen Shilling is leaving Dan Kapanke in the dust and has been declared the WINNER.

Recall Election Update

The two races that have already been called were expected to be a win for the Republicans. However, both democratc candidates showed tremendous success in that they pulled so many votes in republican leaning districts.

In the senate district 8 Sandy Pasch is now leading Alberta Darling and the Milwaukee precincts have not yet come in. They are expected to be leaning Pasch's way, so things are looking on the up in senate district 8. A loss here by Republicans would be a blow to the Walker agenda.

In senate district 14 Luther Olsen continues to lead in the district, but Fred Clark is staying reasonably close. ALL Baraboo precincts, that are Clark's hometown and carries him in his assembly races are still out. Baraboo area is expected to make this race very interesting.

Jessica King pulled ahead in senate district 18 and the Fond du Lac area has not reported and that is a Jessica King stronghold. Hopper has now taken the lead again 51% to 49%. Earlier today, Fond du Lac faced some failing ballot machines so we do not know when to expect their results.

As far as senate district 32... Jen Shilling is constantly pulling away from Dan Kapanke and this is the one senate race that has been expected to flip to the democrats since the beginning. Kapanke could actually just go to bed and then grab the local newspaper tomorrow morning and check the "help wanted" ads.

Election Results Are Coming In - Checkout the SEPAC Website for Results

The elections have been called in the Senate District's 2 (Cowles over Nusbaum) and 10 (Harsdorf over Moore). These were anticipated Republican wins.

Democrats are presently leading in senate districts 8, 18 & 32. The race is very close in senate district 14.

Early Report on Voter Turnout

We’re hearing reports of strong turnout around the state. We have a poll watch program with volunteers at priority wards in SD 8, 14 and 18. We are starting to see solid base turn out on both sides. The numbers are just starting to come in, but we have seen our marginal supporters turning out at slightly higher rates than the other side’s lean supporters. We are not seeing a significant increase in non-voters, so at this early stage, we are not anticipating anything like presidential level turn out. Again, this is very early information and should be taken with a block of salt.

Wisconsin's NEW Voter ID Law - "Nice to Know Information"

SEPAC would like to urge ALL voters that are voting in the recall districts to cooperate with the the request for a photo ID in order to receive a ballot. What is of the top priority TODAY, is getting you to cast your vote. Below is the content of a press release from the Government Accountability Board regarding several issues around the NEW Voter ID law. PLEASE NOTE: The NEW Voter ID law DOES NOT take effect until February 2012, just before we vote to RECALL WALKER.

MADISON, WI – Wisconsin’s new Voter Photo ID Law will be put to another test at Tuesday’s recall election, and the Government Accountability Board reminds people who do not yet have a photo ID that they can still vote.

“Until February 2012, we are still in a ‘soft implementation’ period when a photo ID is not required,” said Kevin Kennedy, director and general counsel of the Government Accountability Board. “However, our Help Desk continues to get calls from people concerned that they can’t vote in the coming recall elections because they don’t have a photo ID.”

Under the new law during soft implementation, voters must be asked for a photo ID before they receive a ballot; however, if they do not have a photo ID they can still vote. Voters without photo IDs must be given a handout explaining they will need a photo ID to vote beginning in February 2012. The handout also explains what IDs are acceptable, and how to get a free photo ID for voting purposes.

The handout is available at http://gab.wi.gov/publications/brochures/voter-id-handout.

Elections Division Administrator Nathaniel E. Robinson said the Board is also aware of misinformation being spread about voter registration. “The new Voter Photo ID Law did not change Election Day Registration,” Robinson said. “You can still register to vote on Election Day at your polling place.”

Robinson urged anyone with questions about the new Voter Photo ID Law to visit the Board’s website for complete, accurate information: http://gab.wi.gov/elections-voting/photo-id.

The Government Accountability Board encourages all eligible voters to participate in the August 9 and August 16 recall elections. Voters can check their registration status, find the election date in their area and view their sample ballot at the Voter Public Access website: http://vpa.wi.gov/.

For more information, contact: Reid Magney, public information officer, 608-267-7887

This May Be True or Not True

If Union members who live a recall district votes tomorrow, Tuesday, August 9th then the Republicans will have once again distributed inaccurate information.

Here is what they are writing:

(START)
I'm very excited to pass along some fantastic news to you that will make you very happy. We've just gotten the final poll results in for the RECALL campaigns against the Republican Senators in Wisconsin and we are surging with great momentum here in the final stretch of the campaign!!

Your efforts are working in Wisconsin, friends!!

• Republican Sen. Randy Hopper previously had trailed by 3% but now he is ahead by 1%.

• Republican Sen. Luther Olsen previously had trailed by 2% but now he is ahead by 3%.

• Republican Sen. Sheila Harsdorf previously was ahead by 5% and now she leads by 12% !!!
(END)

Other polls are showing slightly different numbers that favor the Dems, but the point is that these recalls are very close and we will need every possible vote to stop the radical agenda and blatant assault on public employees of Scott Walker and the Wisconsin Republicans.

Right-Wing Groups Making Huge Push for Help to WIN the RECALL ELECTIONS

They are scared and they should be!

Here is a recent communication, in part, from a right-wing group called "Defeat Obama in 2012" just sent out;

Hello fellow patriots, today is the very last day we can place advertising buys in Wisconsin to fight to DEFEAT the Left's RECALL campaigns against Republican State Senators who supported Gov. Scott Walker's budget reform efforts.

We simply must defeat the RECALL campaigns that have been funded and organized by the labor union bosses, Barack Obama's Organizing for America, MoveOn.org and other liberal groups funded by George Soros.

If we lose just 3 of the 6 RECALL elections then Republicans will lose control of the State Legislature to the Democrats - and they will be able to block Gov. Scott Walker's entire legislative agenda, and then be able to proceed with their RECALL campaign to remove him from office as well.

We cannot afford to lose.

For all of our brothers and sisters in the Wisconsin Recall Districts of; 02 / 08 / 10 / 14 / 18 & 32, please DO NOT forget to vote and pleas take every voting age family member, friend and neighbor that opposes Scott Walker and the Wisconsin Republicans to the polls, TOMORROW, Tuesday, August 9th.
Hopefully you already know what senate district you live in, but if you are uncertain, "click here" to find out and then scroll down to "MY ELECTED OFFICIALS".

IMPORTANT MESSAGE from U.S. Congressman Ron Kind (D-3)

Last fall, right-wing organizations like Americans for Prosperity (AFP) and the 60 Plus Association poured over $3 million into western Wisconsin in an attempt to buy a seat in Congress. But we the people said no to their corporate interests. It's obvious these organizations will go to any length to win, BUT THEIR LATEST STUNT WENT TOO FAR.

As you probably have heard, AFP recently mailed out misleading absentee applications to Senate districts around the state with a return date that is two days after the election! The mailer also instructed voters to return the application to an address that doesn't exist. This tactic is shameful, anti-democratic, and we must call it for what it is: Voter Suppression.

The elections on Tuesday are going to be close and with this type of illegal campaigning taking place, we need your help right now. Please visit JenniferShilling.com or MooreForWisconsin.com to help here in western Wisconsin. Otherwise, call my campaign office at (608) 782-3444 for more information on how to help in another district around Wisconsin.

To be clear, the correct election date is tomorrow, Tuesday, August 9th. Polls are open from 7am-8pm. Because of the possible confusion, please contact your friends and family to make sure they are clear on when and where they vote tomorrow. If you have questions about polling locations, call the Government Accountability Board at 1-866-VOTE-WIS.

In two days, Wisconsin has the opportunity to make history by sending commonsense Democrats to the Wisconsin state Senate. August 9th is the culmination of months of hard work that started when Governor Walker and his Republican allies attacked Wisconsin values in February and continued with their extreme agenda throughout the year.

The momentum is on our side and these right-wing organizations know it, which is why they are resorting to these shady tactics. We can't let them come into Wisconsin and damage our state's great history of open, fair and honest elections.

Our great state's future is at stake and you can do your part to make sure we put Wisconsin back on the right track.

Warmest regards,

Ron Kind

All,

Please see below from Peg Lautenschlager. On the last President's call this topic was discussed and we told you we would get you both the contract cite and the state statute that allows employees time off to vote if they are forced to work a double shift. The state statute is below, the contract cite is Article 13, Section 12/1. It is vitally important that members vote in the recall elections. If someone is forced to work during the entire time the election polls are open the employer must let them off to vote. If anyone is denied call your field representative or Council 24.

As you all know these recall elections are vitally important. Everyone must vote. Please remind your 2nd shifter to vote before they get to work. Every vote counts and we have to ensure that all our members vote!
