There is No Need to Wait Until Monday

Take the time on Sunday to call the toll-free AFSCME Legislative Hotline and lobby for our rights!

The Wisconsin Legislature will be voting on the bill that will strip away our right to bargain collectively. Our jobs, our benefits and our rights are at stake and we need to tell the legislature that enough is enough, we will not stand by and watch our rights be stripped away.

Speak out to protect our rights!

Please call our legislative hotline at 1-877-753-5578 (TOLL-FREE) to speak to your State Senator and ask them to oppose taking away the rights of teachers, nurses, snowplow drivers, correction officers, and all the other hard-working public servants of our state.

You can call anytime of the day. When you call you will be asked to enter your zip code followed by the # sign. The system will then automatically identify your state senator and connect you to their office. Once connected please leave your message.

PLEASE start calling NOW. Because of the overwhelming response by Wisconsin workers and supporters of collective bargaining calling and denouncing Governor Walker's budget repair bill you may receive a recording that states that your state senator's mailbox is full. If so, then try again first thing on Monday morning.

It is that simple, what are you waiting for? Make the call; 1-877-753-5578

Need Volunteers on Sunday

Next week will be the toughest and busiest week for organized labor in Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Legislature will begin the legislative process on Governor Walker's budget repair bill that literally strips public sector employee unions of collective bargaining rights.

In preparation of the two-day rallies on Tuesday, 02/15 and Wednesday, 02/16 we will be making rally signs for participants. The sign making will take place at AFSCME Headquarters, 8033 Excelsior Dr., Madison starting at 1:00pm on Sunday, 02/13.

If you are from the Madison area and can spare a little bit of time and also talent in coming up with short, impacting words for the signs then please join us. Depending on the number of volunteers we get we could be make hundreds of signs in short order.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Danica Sorensen at (608) 279-9356.

We Need You at The Emergency Lobby and Rally Days

So Where Is The Information?

With Friday's news of Governor Scott Walker waging an assault on collective bargaining, namely public sector workers I am sure you have visited this blog looking for info.

It is being posted as I write this note to say, that ALL of your staff employees at Council 24 as well as other staff employees from other public unions all across Wisconsin were called into emergency meetings all day Friday. These meetings will continue throughout the weekend as we ALL prepare to fight back next week. It was for this reason that I did not return to the field office until late this evening and started work on collecting and posting relevant information.

Visit the SEPAC website as well to obtain current information related to the actual legislative bill as well as other information related to a call to action and the scheduled emergency lobby and rally days on February 15th and 16th, 2011.
