State employee benefits cost more than neighboring states - JSOnline

The estimated cost of providing health benefits to state employees in Wisconsin is higher than surrounding states after the changes last year with the passage of Act 10, based on a study released Tuesday by HCTrends. The study is based on an average of the cost of health plans available to state employees and not a weighted average that calculates the actual cost to Wisconsin based on the cost and enrollment in specific plans. …. The five states in the study are Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota and Iowa.
